Our favorite celebrities can often dictate what's hot and what's not in makeup. The Emmy's this past week surprised me a bit, as I saw a lot less emphasis on sculpted made-up faces and way more emphasis on glow and complexion. For awhile, the buzz in makeup has been all about heavy wispy lashes, big eyebrows, and winged liner. I'm not gonna lie, I loooove this look, but this time around, the focus was on beautiful skin with a pop of cool mauve or warm rose tones on the lips.
I headed to Pix 11 in New York to do a red carpet beauty report while making up three lovely models to look like their favorite celebrities. We used nominees Keri Russell, Kerry Washington, and Emilia Clarke as inspiration. The great thing about this year's makeup trends is that they are pretty easy enough to do on your own.
If you've never heard of BeYu Cosmetics, check out CVS.com and Target.com. It's a great line made of affordable quality makeup. To emulate the soft and light smokey eyes on the red carpet, I did a light application of BeYu shadows on all of my models. To recreate the incredible glowing skin we saw, I took First Aid Beauty's skin illuminator and mixed with foundation, applying on the face wherever I needed a bit more highlight. Lastly, to complete each look, each model got either a swipe of pink gloss or matte rosy lipstick. If you'd like to see the before and after looks, check out ChicCosmetique on Instagram.
