Like many of you, I wanted my wedding to occur on a beautiful warm and sunny day during the height of wedding season. The dreary days of winter are often ignored for better weather, and by extension, wedding beauty trends that make us think of beautiful summer tans, hydrated skin, and traditional bridal makeup.
The good news for those of you considering a winter wedding is that the winter season is a beautiful time to explore out of the box beauty and fashion trends. I was able to check out some of these finds at a great event I attended last week in New York City. So, if you are preparing for your wedding, have hired me as your makeup artist and need a bit of inspiration, or simply want to take a look at some cool new beauty products that are debuting next month, you've come to the right place.
The Kevyn Aucoin Blood Roses Collection is a beautiful collection containing rich reds, roses, plums and bronzes. These are universally flattering tones that are different from the traditional bridal makeup many of you request.
Why not try a smoky burgundy eye and deep lip complimented by peach or cool pink blush? Think how nice that would look against a bright white wedding dress and cozy white faux fur, and if you are lucky, maybe you'll get a light snow covering in the backdrop of your photos!
Another brand I absolutely love is called This Works. With a slightly higher price point, but totally worth it, you'll find the best sprays, lotions, and oils to get your winter hair and skin in tip top shape. In recent months, I have been a huge fan of using bath oils on my skin in the shower. As I am not a bath person, I cheat a little and simply take bath oils, lather on my skin in the shower, quickly rinse off, and am one step ahead in the moisturizing process. Knowing the quality behind the brand, I can't wait to try their Deep Sleep Bath Oil for the ultimate in hydration. What a great way to get your skin in tip top shape pre-wedding, and while you're at it, a great bridesmaid gift for the favorite ladies in your life.
Jane Cosmetics displayed some fun lip glosses, blushes, and eye shadow palettes for a more affordable price point. You can't go wrong with traditional nudes and natural tones, and if you're on a budget, Jane is the place to go.
My advice - if you do decide to go au natural, find a place on the face for a little more pop - like your lashes, lipstick, or eyebrows. Yes - I said eyebrows! A greatly shaped and filled in brow is what I call eyeliner for the face. Just something to think about when you're dreaming about your bridal beauty look. Stay pretty!
